With the recent growth in the number of high-profile gourmet restaurants evolving the region’s fine dining scene, food and beverage professionals are looking to The Speciality Food Festival, the Middle East’s only dedicated gourmet and fine food trade show, for inspiration on how to transform mediocre dishes into mouth-watering works of art to satisfy increasingly demanding epicureans.

Taking place from 17-19 November 2013 at Dubai World Trade Centre, the show features the much-anticipated Chef’s Corner - a dedicated platform for Dubai’s top restaurants to showcase their in-house artisans’ creative culinary skills using produce and ingredients selected from a variety of participating exhibitors.

“The Chef’s Corner is always an immensely popular feature at The Speciality Food Festival. At a time when expectations from consumers are high, it is critical that restaurateurs, chefs, buyers and suppliers stay abreast of the latest sector innovations. By showcasing the latest gourmet and speciality products, and demonstrating the latest cooking techniques and trends in interactive live demonstrations, visitors to the show are informed, updated and inspired,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), organiser of The Speciality Food Festival.

The Chef’s Corner complements The Speciality Food Festival’s position as a forum for specialist buyers, chefs and suppliers to review, showcase and sample products, and as a meeting place for networking and conducting active business transactions. Hosted by the Baking & Pastry Guild Middle East, The Chef’s Corner presents demonstrations from the region’s leading culinary figures including: Kevin Hibbett, the only Barrista in the UAE qualified to certify regional barista trainees from Schaerer, Daniel Hutmacher, the renowned Chocolatier and Managing Director of Swiss International Chocolates and Andrew Paderes, Executive Chef from the leading gastro-pub The Gramercy.

Stephane Buchholzer, Executive Chef, The Westin, Mina Seyahi, demonstrates his culinary prowess during his “The Molecular Kitchen” presentation. Incorporating progressive cuisine or culinary evolution, Stephane creates an instant Tiramisu from almond mascarpone espuma, coffee pearl and microwave sponge.

Commenting on the value of The Chef’s Corner, Chef Stephane said: “The Chef’s Corner is an ideal learning platform for chefs in the region. Every hour Chefs from some of Dubai’s best outlets are demonstrating different techniques, procedures and cooking skills. What better way to learn than by watching the experts!”

Jurgen Ellenbeck, Managing Partner and Director of Operations, JAMM Bakery and President of Emirates Baking and Pastry Guild added: “The Chef’s Corner is an initiative that Baking & Pastry Guild hosts in partnership with The Dubai World Trade Centre to provide the region’s young talent with an educational platform to discover the latest skills and techniques. From understanding how coffee is dried and fermented to discovering the secrets of the molecular kitchen, The Chef’s Corner brings the industry together.”
