This issue’s cover artist is Saudi designer Yusef Alahmad. The talented designer’s obsession over details and his exquisite use of patterns, colors, and typography is what got us hooked!
Raised in Alkhobar, Saudi Arabia, Yusef Alahmad currently resides in San Francisco, California where he is a full-time freelance designer. Alahmad is also a part-time student as he continues to polish his talent even after completing his BFA in Graphic Design & Fine Arts from Marymount University in Arlington and his MFA degree in Graphic Design at the Academy of Art University.
Describing his cover creation for Oasis Magazine, Yusef Alahmad said: “The Arabic letter is usually very organic and fluid so I thought it would be interesting to do the opposite by simplifying the word “fann” to its most basic form and then reconstructing it using geometric lines and shapes. I also gave it depth to symbolize what the word stands for-- art is subjective and multi-dimensional. The background was inspired by comics and Japanese art. I believe it adds energy and depth to the composition while emphasizing the focal point of the dot.”
